MAC will be releasing their new limited edition Viva Glam products in-store tomorrow. For those who don't already know about MAC's Viva Glam program, every cent of every Viva Glam lipstick sold goes to the MAC AIDS Fund, which helps men, women, and children infected and affected by AIDS and HIV. This year's Viva Glam ambassadors to help raise AIDS/HIV awareness are Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin, for which there will be a new lipstick and a clear Lip Conditioner (which will not be reviewed here), respectively. These will be added to the six shades in the permanent Viva Glam lipstick line-up for one year. The Nicki Minaj lipstick will essentially be replacing the Lady Gaga 2 shade. Each lipstick comes in a black tube with the Viva Glam red metal casing, contains 3 grams of product, and retails for $17.50. As they are for charity, none of the Viva Glam lipsticks are applicable for the Back to MAC recycling program.
Viva Glam Nicki
Viva Glam Nicki is a medium brightened yellow-based pink with hints of coral in a Satin finish. This is a new and limited edition shade, and will be available for one year going forward. It goes on smoothly and evenly, with high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is brighter and slightly lighter than Chatterbox.
The MAC AIDS Fund is one of the best and most effective charities I have ever seen a cosmetics company identify with. It still blows my mind that MAC helps this charity on a daily, on-going basis with their Viva Glam program. Not only that, but they don't just donate a portion or the proceeds to this cause — it's 100% of the selling price of any Viva Glam product. To date, the MAC AIDS Fund has raised over $235 million to help men, women, and children infected or affected by AIDS/HIV. This is a really worthy cause, so if you don't like Viva Glam Nicki, definitely check out one of the six permanent shades that may be more wearable or flattering on you. Do good, look good, and feel good.
Didn't Ricki Martin collaborate with MAC as well? That is SO random.

Yep, Ricky Martin is the other Viva Glam ambassador this year! His product is the clear Lip Conditioner in a tube. I think MAC approached him with Viva Glam because they want to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in Latin America. Apparently, 2 million people are living with HIV over there, which is more than the US, Canada, Japan, and the UK combined!

I'm always drawn to baby pink hues and 80% of my lippies is this shade! But why do I feel the need to have this??!!! I really wanted to get the Lady Gaga one but it was so hard to find :(
ReplyDeleteHaha, you should absolutely get this -- you get a pretty new product and donate to the MAC AIDS Fund at the same time. ;) The Lady Gaga pink shade came back out for a limited time during the holidays, but it's gone again. :( If you want something similar, try MAC's Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Behave Yourself!

DeleteHmm, VI? I have Viva Glam V .. both the lipstick and the gloss. I shall have to check that out ;) I usually buy myself "gifts" on Fridays after I've survived a gruelling week.
DeleteYesssss, check out VI, Fieran! It comes with a gloss as well. It's a little darker and more berry-toned than V, but it's still soooo gorgeous. I love it on darker skintones more than the V!
