MAC Chenman Love & Water: Lipsticks

Yesterday, MAC released a new collection in collaboration with Chinese fashion photographer, Chenman. This collection, entitled Chenman Love and Water, features 18 products in total, 10 of which are limited edition. There are two new and limited edition shades of lipstick released with this collection. They are vanilla-scented, but taste-free. Each lipstick comes in a regular black packaging with special edition secondary cardboard packaging, contains 3 grams of product, and retails for $17.50. These are applicable for the Back to MAC recycling program at all locations.

Budding Love is a light cool-toned lilac-pink in a Lustre finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has light-medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is lighter and more lilac than Royal Azalea Sheen Supreme, and cooler than Viva Glam Gaga.
Force of Love is a medium bright pinked coral with orange undertones in a Matte finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has intense pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is lighter and less red than Impassioned, less orange than Vegas Volt, and slightly more pink than Full Speed Sheen Supreme.

I love that there is a really bright matte shade and a really soft and shiny pastel shade in this collection — seemingly opposite in terms of colour and texture, and yet both so on-trend this season. Force of Love, however, is very similar to many colours we've seen from MAC recently, including Watch Me Simmer from Shop MAC, Cook MAC, as well as Party Parrot from MAC Iris Apfel. If those two collections were any indication, Force of Love will be an immediate best-seller, and will likely sell out quite fast. But there is something really romantic and Spring-like about Budding Love; those who like their light pinks (especially fans of Viva Glam Gaga, which is discontinued) will certainly be attracted to this shade.
