This past Thursday, MAC released a new collection called Too Supreme. This collection features 24 products, 11 of which are new and limited edition, nine of which are permanent at MAC Stores and new and permanent at partnered locations (The Bay in Canada), three of which are permanent at all locations, and one of which is new and permanent at all locations. Too Supreme sees the release of a new and limited edition lip gloss formula called Sheen Supreme Lipglass, of which there are 11 shades. They are touted to be "smooth, lush, pearl-rich" with "a finish that redefines shine." They come in a clickable pen-style applicator with a brush tip, and are vanilla-scented but taste-free. Each Sheen Supreme Lipglass comes in black packaging with shade-matched tops, contains 2.5 grams of product, and retails for $22.50.

Sweet Bean is a medium rosy-beige with white shimmer. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has low pigmentation with sheer to semi-sheer buildable colour pay-off. It does feel slightly gritty as it wears off. It's like a sheerer and more pink version of Viva Glam V Lipglass.
Almond Blossom is a pale beige with gold shimmer. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has low pigmentation with sheer to semi-sheer buildable colour pay-off. It is sheerer and more beige version of Instant Gold Lustreglass.
Fuji Pink is a pale milky pink-peach with subtle white micro-shimmer. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has low pigmentation with sheer to semi-sheer buildable colour pay-off. It is like Boy Bait Cremesheen Glass with subtle shimmer.
Mango Sheen is a medium bright orange-red with gold shimmer. It goes on smoothly, though there is some unevenness, and has medium pigmentation with semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is like Double Dare Cremesheen Glass with gold shimmer.
Imperial Red is a medium bright reddened pink with subtle gold micro-shimmer. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has medium pigmentation with semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is more pink than Love Alert Dazzleglass.
Dress Kimono is a medium-dark pinked red with white shimmer. It goes on smoothly, though there is some unevenness, and has medium pigmentation with semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is more pink than Venetian Lustreglass.
This gloss formula is very similar to MAC's old Lipgelée, except in a click-pen applicator with a brush. I'm actually not a huge fan of this type of applicator, as I feel like it's messier than a regular lip gloss in which the applicator is inside the tube. You get less control with the amount of product as well, and the product can congeal around the brush, which is just nasty. It is the same reason why I am not a fan of Stila's Lip Glazes (but at least Stila's tubes are clear, so you know how much product you have left). It is non-sticky when initially applied, but it does get slightly tackier over time. These last about two to three hours at most before needing to re-apply. I don't personally find that these glosses look very different from MAC's Dazzleglass or Lustreglass formulas (which is probably why the Lipgelée formula was discontinued). There are some more unique shades here that might be worth getting (e.g. Imperial Red, Mango Sheen), but for the most part, you can find a very similar colour in MAC's permanent lip gloss ranges.
Yeah, not digging these at all. Good point about Stila packaging being clear - it drives me nuts when I can't see the end!
ReplyDeleteFor me, it's really just the packaging that will make me grab another lip gloss over these ones. But otherwise, the colours are nice and the texture and consistency are good. What a shame. :(
