MAC will be releasing a new and limited edition collection this coming Thursday, April 5, called In Extra Dimension. This collection will feature 15 products, 13 of which are new and limited edition, and two of which are re-promotes. In Extra Dimension features a new "liquid-powder hybrid formula with prismatic reflections" that creates a "luminous, visually arresting, well-defined finish" in both Skinfinish powders for the face as well as eyeshadows, all of which are limited edition. Each Extra Dimension Skinfinish features a wave design embossed on the surface with the MAC logo imprinted around it. Each powder compact comes in regular black packaging, contains 9 grams of product, and retails for $34.

Glorify

Glorify

Glorify is a medium copper-bronze with a golden-copper metallic shimmer-sheen. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is a strange texture, which is very lightweight and dry, yet really soft and silky. On lighter skintones, this would work better as a glowy blush or bronzer. On darker skintones, this would be beautiful as a highlighter, all-over illuminating powder, or a light blush. This product does go on quite pigmented, so a light hand is essential. A duo-fibre brush like MAC's 187 would work well with this type of product. In MAC's permanent range, Gold Deposit Mineralize Skinfinish would be the most similar, though there are vast differences in their textures. This is virtually the same product as Estée Lauder Topaz Chameleon Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée.

Superb

Superb

Superb is a light rosy champagne beige with a champagne metallic shimmer-sheen. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is a strange texture, which is very lightweight and dry, yet really soft and silky. On fair to light skintones, this can actually work quite well as a lighter blush. On medium to dark skintones, this would be beautiful as a highlighter, or an all-over illuminating powder. This should work well on all undertones, and is the most universally flattering of the three shades. This product does go on quite pigmented, so a light hand is essential. A duo-fibre brush like MAC's 187 would work well with this type of product. In MAC's permanent range, Soft & Gentle Mineralize Skinfinish would be the most similar, though there are vast differences in their textures. This is virtually the same product as Estée Lauder Modern Mercury Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée.

Whisper of Gilt

Whisper of Gilt

Whisper of Gilt is a light soft champagne gold with a yellow champagne metallic shimmer-sheen. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is a strange texture, which is very lightweight and dry, yet really soft and silky. This would be beautiful as a highlighter or an all-over illuminating powder on all skintones. Because of the strong yellow undertone in this shade, this will suit warmer undertones very well, though it shouldn't turn orange on those with cooler undertones. This product does go on quite pigmented, so a light hand is essential. A duo-fibre brush like MAC's 187 would work well with this type of product. There is nothing similar in MAC's current permanent range, and I could not find a great dupe in terms of both shade and texture.

Okay, for those who are familiar with Estée Lauder's Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée, this is basically the same product. The finish, the texture, the look on skin, even the shades! It makes sense, as Estée Lauder owns MAC, that they would recycle some of the same formulas. The good news is that if you missed out on Estée Lauder's versions, you can now grab them from MAC! Given that Estée Lauder's sold out so fast, I imagine these will sell out insanely fast as well (especially Superb), especially given that they're much less expensive. For those who don't like the way Mineralize Skinfinishes emphasize skin texture and pores, the Extra Dimension Skinfinishes will be much, much more appealing, as they give that amazing glow without nearly as much emphasis on skin texture (as with all metallic finishes, though, there will be a slight emphasis). These are also much smoother than Mineralize Skinfinishes in both application and finish, and wear a lot longer as well (an average of eight to ten hours!). I reckon these are going to sell out really fast at counters, so if you're interested in these, I would grab them up as soon as possible!
