MAC Reel Sexy: Mineralize Skinfinish

MAC will be releasing a new collection today called Reel Sexy. This collection is this month's "main launch," and features 23 products — 14 of which are new and limited edition, 6 of which are re-promoted and limited edition, one of which is re-promoted and will be added to the permanent line, and two of which are permanent. Reel Sexy sees the release of one Mineralize Skinfinish, which MAC describes as a "luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish that adds buffed-up highlights to cheeks and brows, or an overall ultra-deluxe polish to the face." Each powder comes in regular black packaging, contains 10 grams of product, and retails for $34.

Lightscapade

Lightscapade

Lightscapade is is a pale white-beige with tiny veins of blue-lavender, pink, yellow, and orange running throughout. It is a re-promoted shade from 2006's Danse collection and has been re-promoted again since then in last year's Fall Colour collection. This shade will be added to MAC's permanent range. On the skin, it looks like an illuminated beige with champagne shimmer. The texture of Lightscapade is smoother and silkier than many other Mineralize Skinfinishes, so it doesn't emphasize pores and imperfections. This isn't really a shade that I would wear alone as it doesn't add a lot of colour, though you can dust it lightly all over the face for a subtle candlelit glow. It will lighten any blush you put it on top of, and it works most excellently as a highlighter (this has become my favourite highlighter shade from MAC). It works best on fair to medium skintones; those with medium-dark to deep dark skintones may find this ashy.

For those who wanted Lightscapade from previous collections and didn't get a chance to pick it up, or for those who love Lightscapade so much and hoarded multiples of it, you can breathe a sigh of relief — it is now permanent! I'm really, really glad MAC decided to listen to their customers and make this available permanently at all counters. MAC has really limited highlighting shades within their permanent line, with all of them being extremely metallic or shimmery, so this is a really welcome addition. Lightscapade has been raved as one of the most natural-looking highlighters, and is not only good for cheekbones and brow bones, but used all-over to give a gorgeous dewy, candlelit glow. Definitely a must-have for me, and one of the most used items in my kit!
