MAC Heavenly Creature: Mineralize Blushes

MAC released a new collection in-stores last Thursday called Heavenly Creature. This collection is comprised of three different parts: Colour, Eyes, and Skin. Together, Heavenly Creature features a total of 35 products — 25 of which are new and limited edition, three of which are re-promotes, and seven of which are permanent. Heavenly Creature sees the release of four shades of Mineralize Blush, all of which are new and limited edition. Mineralize Blush "provides exceptionally sheer and lightweight application" so that "colour builds lightly, layer after layer, without heavy coverage." Each Mineralize Blush comes in regular black packaging with a clear lid, contains 3.2 grams of product, and retails for $28.

Ring of Saturn

Ring of Saturn is a mélange of dark muted red and light pinked peach. When swirled together, it creates a medium-dark warm coral-red with gold shimmer. It has a soft, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. A little goes a long way because this shade can build up in colour intensity very fast, so I recommend using a light hand and working in layers. It is warmer and less pink than Love Thing, and brighter and more red than Ambering Rose.

Solar Ray

Solar Ray is a mélange of light-medium pink-peach and medium orange-gold. When swirled together, it creates a medium orange-peach with gold shimmer. It has a slightly gritty, powdery texture due to the excess sparkle, and goes on unevenly and patchy as a result. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque colour pay-off. It's a bit difficult to layer the product with a brush because the powdery texture blends out so easily. It is like a slightly darker, really shimmery version of Peaches.

Stratus

Stratus is a mélange of dark burgundy-plum and medium-dark peachy brown. When swirled together, it creates a dark plummy brown with gold shimmer. It has a soft, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. A little goes a long way because this shade can build up in colour intensity very fast, so I recommend using a light hand and working in layers. It is darker than Love Joy, and more plum than Sweet as Cocoa.

Supernova

Supernova is a mélange of medium-dark brightened fuchsia pink and medium dirty golden peach. When swirled together, it creates a medium-dark raspberry pink with gold shimmer. It has a soft, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. A little goes a long way because this shade can build up in colour intensity very fast, so I recommend using a light hand and working in layers. It is darker and brighter than Dollymix, and lighter and more pink than Breezy.

With the exception of Solar Ray, these blushes all went on smoothly and evenly and yielded full colour pay-off. All of them give a shimmery sheen, but none of the shades will emphasize skin texture or pores (like Mineralize Skinfinishes), because they don't have a strong metallic finish. Solar Ray, despite its grittiness, is still a really pretty colour and should work well on light to medium skintones (this is better suited as a highlighter or illuminating product for darker skintones). Ring of Saturn and Supernova should work well on all skintones (though lighter skintones should use a lighter hand), and Stratus is better suited to medium-dark to deep dark skintones (it can look bruise-like on lighter skintones). My must-haves from this collection are Ring of Saturn and Supernova, both of which will work well right into fall.
