Last Thursday, MAC launched their first fall collection called It's A Strike!: "Head straight to the fast lane and have a ball with It's A Strike! A set of varsity-chic hues gives you that glamour strike that's sure to bring you luck." It's A Strike! inclues a total of 29 products, and sees the release of one new and limited edition Pearlmatte Face Powder, which MAC describes as "pearlized and satin shades of Face Powder [that] feature a rich texture [and] velvet finish. Can be used as a blush and highlighter. Also suitable for eye area." The powder itself features an embossed graphic design of a bowling ball and two bowling pins, and is housed in a regular black compact with a clear lid. Each Pearlmatte Face Powder contains a total of 13 grams of product and retails for $32.

Trophy

Trophy

Trophy features an embossed graphic design of two bowling pins in ivory with stripes in a raspberry red overspray, a bowling ball in a bright lime green, and a background in a muted rose pink. When they are all swirled together, they create a light neutral brightened ivory pearl in a frosted finish. This is a new and limited edition product. It has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is brighter and more pearlized than Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish.

I was honestly surprised by how much I liked this. Upon looking at it, I didn't think it was going to be very wearable. As eyeshadow shades, maybe (and despite being marketed as a face powder, all shades here are suitable for eye area), but not necessarily as a face product. However, when you blend them together, the green and the red neutralize each other, so the shades create the most gorgeous iridescent pearlized effect. Seriously, it's that kind of beaming highlight that is visible from about a mile away. What's great about this formula, too, is that it's not overly metallic and doesn't emphasize skin texture. That having been said, this product is definitely geared toward fairer skintones — fans of MAC's Lightscapade, Anastasia Beverly Hills' Starlight, and Becca's Pearl will love this. Those with medium to medium-dark skintones might want to use a lighter hand otherwise it can start to look too stark. Those with dark to deep-dark skintones might want to skip this one, however, since it can start to look really ashy. It's not a must-have in the end unless you love your bright, white highlighters, but it is super-cute and there's nothing too similar in MAC's permanent range. MAC collectors will definitely want to add this one to their stash.
